Clinic Update: Nurse Practitioner Funding Model (NL)

Important information for patients of our Paradise NL clinic

March 25, 2026 UPDATE:

Dear Catalyst Patients,

You may be following recent news about the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador funding Nurse Practitioner care, aimed to reduce out of pocket fees for NP care in the province. Catalyst strongly supports publicly funded Nurse Practitioner services and fully believe every resident should have access to high quality primary care without cost to the patient.

However, the current pilot only allows individual independent Nurse Practitioners to sign service agreements, not collaborative clinics like ours. Because the current pilot is limited to contracts with individual NPs, our clinic isn’t yet able to join. We are actively collaborating with the government on a solution that will allow clinic-based participation. We will continue to provide updates on our social media accounts and website.

Your care at Catalyst remains unchanged. You can still see our team, book appointments, and receive timely follow up. If you prefer to access publicly funded options, we respect that choice and want to ensure you’re informed. If you do not currently have a primary care provider, the most important first step is to register with Patient Connect NL.

Patient Connect NL is the provincial registry used to match people without a family doctor or nurse practitioner to a provider who is accepting new patients. You can register online through the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador website, or by calling 811 and asking for help with registration. Once registered, you are placed on a centralized list and will be contacted when a provider becomes available in your area. Registration does not provide immediate attachment, but it ensures you are in the queue for ongoing matching as capacity opens across the system.

Please find a helpful resource below with a list of Primary Care options available with no additional cost.

Thank you for trusting us with your health. If you have questions about this pilot or your care options, please contact us.
Sincerely,
Catalyst Health Solutions
