Discover the Role of Registered Nurse Prescribers
Enhancing patient care with specialized prescribing.
Registered Nurse Prescriber
A Registered Nurse Prescriber (RN-P) is a registered nurse (RN) with the authority to prescribe specific medications and communicate diagnoses for prescribing purposes. This expanded scope of practice enables RN Prescribers to independently manage and treat specific non-complex medical conditions.
While RN-Ps can prescribe medications, they also collaborate with nurse practitioners, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and safe treatment plans. Their role also includes conducting assessments, providing health education, and offering follow-up care as part of patient management. By enabling RNs to prescribe medications within their scope of practice, healthcare teams can operate more efficiently, ensuring patients receive timely care.
